MISSION

The Save Sandy Point Alliance is a coalition of concerned citizens, historic and land preservation advocates, members of the equestrian community, and members of the music community dedicated to preventing the demolition of Sandy Point Stables.

Plan: Raise funding via tax-deductible donations to acquire, repair, and maintain the Sandy Point Stables property, which includes the stable and adjacent paddocks. (for details, see Property + History)

• Funds will be placed in a trust administered by a non-profit organization. (For details, see How to Help)

Why this Matters:  If you care about historic or land preservation, if you love horses, or if you support music/the arts, then saving Sandy Point Stables is an important mission that deserves and needs your help. Without your support, Sandy Point Stables will fall into the hands of developers who will demolish the building and thereby:

• Destroy a unique architectural treasure: the largest remaining stable from Newport’s Gilded Age.
• Destroy a beloved equestrian center – and a “birthplace” of the U.S. Equestrian Federation – that has operated for 121 years and served generations of recreational and competitive riders.
• Destroy a unique production resource for the music community, after 40 years of providing high-quality services at affordable rates for the many genres and artists outside the big-budget mainstream industry.
• Destroy more open land and further congest the Sandy Point neighborhood.
